The Truck That Would Get Me There
Buying a farm was one thing. Getting a farm-ready vehicle was another.
I knew I needed a truck—something reliable, affordable, and capable of hauling whatever farm life threw my way. I’d been searching for weeks, with a budget of $20k and under 100k miles. But good trucks at that price were hard to find.
Then, I saw her.
She was $19k with 114k miles. A little over my mileage limit, but at that point, I was tired of looking. I made an appointment to test drive.
Scott, the salesman, was fantastic—answered all my questions, made me feel totally comfortable. I tried to negotiate, but just like with the farm, there was no budging.
Still, she was in great condition. The interior was pristine, and I could tell she had been a family caravan, not a work truck. She had been cared for.
I signed the papers.
Driving her home, I had zero regrets.
The best part? When I pulled into my mom’s driveway, her sweet neighbors, Joe and Paula, had left a tiny congrats balloon on my new truck. It was the perfect welcome to this new chapter.
Looking Back, Moving Forward
It’s wild to think about how quickly things fell into place. One minute, I was scrolling Zillow, half-convinced I’d never find the right place. The next, I was under contract on my dream farm, with a truck to match.
Was it luck? Timing? Divine intervention?
Maybe a little of everything.
But one thing’s for sure—this farm was meant to be mine. And I can’t wait to see what’s next.
