Celebrating My Big Brother Matt: City Slicker Turned Farm Legend

Updated: Jan 25

Today isn’t just another day on the farm—it’s the birthday of the person who has quietly, consistently, and wholeheartedly helped make this dream possible: my brother, Matt.

Every farm has its unsung hero. Mine just happens to be my brother. I want to shine a little light on the man who’s helped build this place from the ground up—literally.

I truly wouldn’t be where I am without him.

When I tell people my farm is a labor of love, I’m usually talking about mine… but the truth is, Matt’s fingerprints are on every inch of this dream. From painting, tilling, weeding, loading, cleaning, and mowing, to chicken-tending, snake-wrangling, and battling mosquitoes the size of pterodactyls—he shows up, every single time.

Farming was not on his bingo card. He’s a city slicker at heart with his own big dreams, his own full plate, and still—he never hesitates to drop everything and help me build mine. He’s taught me how to use tools, how to be brave, and how to laugh when I feel like I’m behind on everything.

He’s a genuinely great cook (took after Mom on that one), loves food as much as I do, and somehow can make even the toughest farm days feel lighter just by being here.

To know him is to love him. And I am endlessly grateful that I get to call him my brother, my friend, and the behind-the-scenes hero of my farm journey.

Cheers to another year around the sun, Matt—and to many more adventures, dreams, and mosquito-filled mowing days ahead. 🌻💛
