Living the Dream

After touring the farm and hearing my story, a lovely guest at one of our fall workshops recently asked me a question that stopped me in my tracks:

“What’s it like living out your dream?”

In the moment, I paused—because no one had ever asked me that before. And since that day, I find myself returning to that question often.

I think about it when I’m overwhelmed by my endless to-do list…

When seedlings struggle because I didn’t get to them fast enough…

When everything feels like it’s covered in a thin film of dust from the dirt road…

When I’m not as far along in the grand plan as I hoped I’d be by now.

And yet, that question becomes an anchor for me.

It reminds me that I’m tired because I’m doing the very thing I dreamt of for so many years.

It reminds me that this farm—this magical little place under the old oak—is being built from scratch with my own hands, one small step at a time.

And most importantly, it reminds me of the community that has grown alongside it: volunteers, friends, neighbors, workshop guests, and total strangers who have become part of the Helena Hills Farm story.

As we enter this season of Thanksgiving, I am overwhelmed with gratitude.

For this opportunity.

For my friends and family who show up again and again.

For the encouragement, awe, and kindness of people I had never met before this year—people who now feel like old friends of the farm.

Thank you, truly, for being here.

For supporting this dream.

For believing in the beauty growing on this land.

Here’s to living out our dreams—whatever they may be—one day, one seedling, and one small miracle at a time.
